Canadian ag Partnership (CAP) FUNDINGAgricultural producers may be able to access funding for water systems through the new provincial CAP program that replaced Growing Forward 2 in April, 2018. This includes cost sharing of drilling new wells, decommissioning old wells, livestock watering, remote livestock water monitoring and much more.
. NEW! As of April 1, 2018 the new Canadian Ag Partnership program replaced Growing Forward 2. Please note that Environmental Farm Plans are an integral part of funding going forward. Starting April 1, 2018 all EFP's must be renewed in the last 10 years to be eligible for funding. |
FARM WATER SUPPLY
|
Farm Water Supply is the CAP program most similar to the previous Growing Forward 2 On Farm Water Management program and is accessed most by our clients. This program helps producers to develop a Long Term Water Management Plan (LTWMP) for their farm or ranch to identify potential areas of upgrading, improvement or new water opportunities. Please note that if you had a LTWMP approved in GF1 or GF2, they are still valid, assuming the project you are interested in was part of the plan.
WATER WELLS The program may share 1/3 of the costs of your water system, to a maximum of $5000. This includes but is not limited to drilling new wells, using electroseismology, pump tests, routine potable water quality testing, chlorination and disinfection of a new or reconstructed well and much more. The program may share up to 75% of well decommissions (special incentive rates depend on how many wells you are decommissioning). The program may share up to 50% of well pit conversions, to a project maximum of $6000. CONSTRUCTED WATERING SYSTEMS The program may share 1/3 of the costs of your off-source watering systems, to a maximum of $5000. This includes but is not limited to off-site watering systems on NEW or expanded constructed water sources (wells, dugouts & springs) such as wind, solar, composite systems (trailer with windmill & solar panels for example), portable watering systems and used equipment. See the Environmental Stewardship & Climate Change program below for year round watering systems on natural water sources. See our Solar Livestock Watering Options MONITORING SYSTEMS The program may share 1/3 of the costs of your off-source watering system monitors, to a maximum of $5000. Eligible monitors include line of system systems using beacon lights, cellular systems, and satellite systems. See our Satellite Monitoring System |
ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP & CLIMATE CHANGE |
The Environmental Stewardship & Climate Change program funds projects that support producers in reducing negative impacts on the environment while enhancing sustainable production, managing climate change and increasing profitability in the ag sector. This program will cost share 30-70% of eligible projects to a maximum of $100,000.
This program does require your farm to have completed an Environmental Farm Plan, which can be done through local agriculture extension staff. In the Special Areas, you can contact Chinook Applied Research Association or your local Ag Fieldman to help you complete yours, either online or in person. YEAR ROUND/SUMMER WATERING SYSTEMS This program is designed to aid in the installation of winter watering systems and to protect natural water sources. Eligible products include portable watering systems, troughs, stock tanks, pumping systems, heated waterers, power sources, plumbing materials and pipelines.
